About the School

We are pleased to announce the International School on Quantum Sensing and Metrology, a five-day event designed to provide students, researchers, and professionals with a comprehensive introduction to the rapidly evolving field of quantum sensing and its applications in metrology.

Quantum sensing leverages the principles of quantum mechanics to achieve unprecedented precision in measuring physical quantities such as time, magnetic fields, gravity, and temperature. This school will cover the fundamental concepts, cutting-edge advancements, and real-world applications of quantum sensing technologies, featuring lectures from leading international and local experts.

School Format

The program will consist of:

  • Morning Sessions: Lectures and talks covering foundational and advanced topics in quantum sensing and metrology.
  • Afternoon Sessions: Interactive workshops and hands-on activities to deepen understanding and foster practical skills.
  • Poster Sessions & Networking Opportunities: Participants will have the chance to present their work and engage with speakers and peers.

  • Theoretical and computational foundations of quantum sensing
    • Theoretical foundations of quantum sensing and precision measurements
    • Numerical methods and computational techniques in the analysis of sensing systems
    • Optimization and uncertainty analysis in quantum measurements
  • Experimental infrastructures for quantum sensing
    • Modern sensing technologies including Rydberg atoms and NV centers in diamond
    • Methods for experimental preparation and control of quantum systems
    • Experimental applications in advanced technologies and precision measurements
  • Quantum sensing programming and simulation
    • Training in computational tools and software for quantum sensor simulation
    • Coding and running numerical simulations to study sensor performance
    • Analysis of sensor data and practical limitations of quantum sensors
